When you make content a priority in your marketing plan, you’re building a foundation that reaches beyond subscribers. You’re building a customer base that will not only come to trust you and your business, but also buy your services.
But before you can create amazing content, you have to create a strategy. Don’t panic; strategy is just a fancy word for “plan.” Just like you would create a plan for delivering your services, you need a plan for your content, and building a plan is easier than you think.
Why – This is your reason for the content you’re creating. The why of your strategy should define your purpose. Why are you doing this?
Who – The “who” is your audience. Who is this content for? Are they customers or other businesses? Knowing your target audience helps you determine the next step.
What – The what part of your strategy is a little more difficult, because until you find the content sweet spot, the type of content that your audience reacts to may be trial and error. For instance, do they prefer video, slides, email, or another medium?
Once you’re able to define those three key points in your content strategy, you can then begin to drill down the when and the how and begin a content strategy that will turn into a lead generation magnet.
